5 Day Luxury Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking Uganda Flying Tour

Begin the safari with an early breakfast before heading to Mabamba Wetland, home of the legendary Shoebill Stork. Spend 2–4 hours exploring the marshes by local boat, capturing incredible photographs and observing the unique birdlife in their natural habitat. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for a scenic domestic flight to Kisoro, flying over Uganda’s lush hills, forests and the spectacular Virunga volcanoes, including Mount Sabyinyo and Mount Muhabura. On arrival, meet your private driver-guide and transfer to Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge, set within the dramatic landscapes surrounding Bwindi.

Spend the afternoon at leisure or choose an optional Lake Mutanda canoe experience or guided community walk, offering a relaxed introduction to the scenery and local culture of southwestern Uganda.

Rise early for the highlight of your Uganda gorilla safari — gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing before entering the ancient rainforest with your ranger guide.

Trek through the dense forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family, with the duration depending on their location. Once found, spend up to one hour observing and photographing these remarkable primates in their natural habitat, from powerful silverbacks to females and playful infants.

Bwindi is also rich in Albertine Rift biodiversity, so keep watch for forest birds, butterflies, chameleons, monkeys and other wildlife along the trail. Return to Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge after this extraordinary encounter for a well-earned afternoon of relaxation.

After breakfast, venture into Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for an exciting golden monkey trekking experience. Accompanied by a ranger guide, explore the bamboo and montane forests in search of the endangered golden monkey, an Albertine Rift endemic found in the Virunga region.

Once located, spend time observing these energetic and playful primates as they move through the forest canopy and bamboo vegetation. The experience also offers excellent opportunities for golden monkey photography and discovering the rich biodiversity of Mgahinga.

After the trek, return to your lodge to relax, or choose an optional cultural experience with the local community.
