Early morning transfer to Mabamba Swamp on Lake Victoria for a guided canoe excursion in search of the rare shoebill stork — one of Africa’s most sought-after birds. Morning light provides excellent photography conditions. Return to Entebbe for overnight
Scenic drive west through Uganda’s rolling countryside, passing lush tea plantations, crater lakes and vibrant rural communities before arriving at the forested landscapes of Kibale National Park, the renowned primate capital of East Africa.
Scenic Drive to Kibale Forest
Begin the morning with a chimpanzee photography experience in Kibale Forest, following habituated chimpanzee communities through the rainforest and capturing their behaviour, interactions and natural moments. After lunch, depart Kibale and continue towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoying the changing landscapes along the way.
Start the day with an early morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, searching for lions, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and other wildlife as the savannah comes alive. Later, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, offering excellent opportunities to photograph hippos, crocodiles, elephants and abundant birdlife along the water’s edge. In the evening, there is an optional golden-hour game drive for more wildlife encounters and photography as the day draws to a close.
Begin the morning with chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge, a dramatic forested ravine within Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering opportunities to encounter chimpanzees and explore its rich rainforest habitat. After lunch, continue south through the scenic landscapes of southwestern Uganda towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, arriving in the Rushaga sector in the afternoon
Today brings one of the most anticipated experiences of the safari: gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Set out early with your ranger into the ancient rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. Once located, spend up to one hour observing and photographing these remarkable primates in their natural habitat, creating an intimate and unforgettable wildlife experience.
After breakfast, transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for your second gorilla trekking experience. Explore the beautiful montane forest at the foothills of the Virunga volcanoes as you search for another habituated gorilla family. A second trek offers a different perspective on gorilla behaviour, photography and the unique character of this remarkable ecosystem.
Enjoy a scenic domestic flight from Kisoro to Entebbe, offering spectacular aerial views of southwestern Uganda and the surrounding landscapes. The flight provides a comfortable and time-saving alternative to the long overland journey, bringing the safari to a relaxed conclusion upon arrival in Entebbe.
