Entebbe – Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey southwest towards Lake Mburo National Park. The drive introduces your family to Uganda beyond the city, passing through villages, farms and changing landscapes.
After lunch and check-in, head out for your first game drive. Lake Mburo is a great introduction to Uganda's wildlife, particularly for families, as zebras, impalas, warthogs, buffalo and giraffes are commonly seen across the open grasslands.
The park is also one of the few places in Uganda where you can see zebra and giraffe together with several species of antelope, making the first safari outing varied and engaging for children. Return to the lodge in the evening and enjoy time together around the camp.

Lake Mburo – Wildlife on Foot and Evening Safari

Start the morning with a guided nature walk accompanied by an experienced ranger. Walking through the park gives the family a completely different perspective from a vehicle, with opportunities to learn about animal tracks, plants, insects and smaller wildlife.
For families interested in a special bush experience, a bush breakfast can be arranged after the walk.
Return to the lodge for some downtime during the warmer part of the day. Children can relax while adults enjoy the surroundings before heading out again later.
In the late afternoon, embark on another game drive, when temperatures begin to drop and wildlife becomes more active. Look for zebras, giraffes, impalas, eland, buffalo and other savannah species as the light changes towards sunset.

- Guided nature walk
- Bush breakfast, optional
- Afternoon leisure
- Evening game drive

Lake Mburo – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, leave Lake Mburo and continue west towards Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The journey takes you through rural Uganda, with opportunities to see traditional homesteads, farms and local communities along the way. Your guide can make stops where appropriate, turning the transfer into part of the experience rather than simply a long drive. Arrive in the Queen Elizabeth area for lunch and settle into your lodge overlooking the dramatic landscapes of the Albertine Rift.
The afternoon is deliberately kept lighter, giving the family time to enjoy the lodge, the views and the surroundings before the next day's activities.

Queen Elizabeth – Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Cruise

Rise early for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the park's best areas for viewing savannah wildlife.
Your guide will search for elephants, buffalo, lions, Uganda kob, warthogs and other wildlife. The early hours are particularly rewarding because animals are generally more active before the heat of the day.
Return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax.
In the afternoon, board a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This is one of the family's major wildlife experiences, bringing you close to hippos, elephants, buffalo and large numbers of waterbirds along the shoreline. The slower pace of the boat makes it especially enjoyable for children, who can watch wildlife from a completely different perspective.

Queen Elizabeth – Family Safari Day

Today provides a more flexible pace after several active safari days.
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the lodge, or choose an additional wildlife activity depending on the family's interests and energy levels.
For families wanting more safari time, your guide can arrange an extended game drive to explore another section of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Alternatively, you can visit the Katwe salt lakes and learn about traditional salt production and life around the crater-lake region.
The day can also simply be used to enjoy the lodge, swimming pool and surrounding landscape.
This break is intentional: a family safari should not feel like a continuous race from one activity to the next.
Safari Activities
- Leisure morning
- Optional extended game drive
- Katwe Salt Lake visit, optional
- Lodge relaxation

Along the way, your guide can make short stops where there is something interesting to see or photograph.
Arrive at your forest lodge and settle in for lunch.
The afternoon is relaxed, with time to enjoy the forest surroundings. If the family would like a cultural experience, visit a nearby community to learn about local life, traditional crafts, music or food.

Chimpanzee Trekking

Today brings one of the safari's most exciting experiences: chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest.
After breakfast, head into the forest with trained trackers and guides in search of habituated chimpanzee communities.
The experience is not simply about finding chimpanzees. Along the trail, your family will discover the forest ecosystem, with opportunities to see monkeys, birds, butterflies and other wildlife while learning how chimpanzees live, communicate and move through the canopy.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a well-earned afternoon of relaxation.
For younger children who may not meet the age requirement for chimpanzee trekking, alternative forest experiences can be arranged.

Kibale – Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, begin the journey north towards Murchison Falls National Park.
This is one of the longer transfer days, so the journey is broken up with stops and opportunities to experience the changing landscape as you travel towards northern Uganda.
Continue through Hoima and towards the Albertine Rift before arriving in the Murchison Falls area, depending on your arrival time, enjoy a relaxed evening at the lodge rather than adding another major activity.

Search for elephants, giraffes, buffalo, Jackson's hartebeest, Uganda kob and, with luck, lions and leopards.
Return to the lodge for lunch before one of the safari's highlights: a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls.
The riverbanks are packed with wildlife, particularly hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffalo, while the cruise also provides excellent birdwatching opportunities. At the base of the falls, watch as the Nile is forced through the narrow gorge before continuing downstream.

In the afternoon, take part in a guided rhino tracking experience on foot. Rangers explain rhino behaviour, conservation and the sanctuary's role in protecting Uganda's rhino population.
This creates a memorable final wildlife experience for the family and completes the traditional Big Five experience, alongside the lions, elephants and buffalo encountered earlier in the safari.
