2-Day Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Uganda

Entebbe, Uganda ➝ Bwindi Forest ➝ Kigali, Rwanda

Perfect for: Short-Stay Travellers | Gorilla Enthusiasts | Cross-Border Safari Journeys

Short on time but dreaming of mountain gorillas? This two-day safari connects Entebbe with Kigali through an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to a significant population of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Fly from Entebbe to southwestern Uganda, transfer to the forest, and prepare for an early-morning trek through Bwindi’s ancient rainforest. After your gorilla encounter, continue across the border into Rwanda, ending your journey in Kigali.

This itinerary is ideal for travellers who want to include gorilla trekking in a wider East African adventure without committing to a long overland journey back to Entebbe.

Entebbe to Bwindi – Fly Into the Gorilla Highlands Kisoro

Entebbe to Bwindi – Fly Into the Gorilla Highlands Kisoro

Your journey begins in Entebbe with a domestic flight towards southwestern Uganda, reducing the long overland journey to the gorilla highlands. Depending on the trekking sector and flight schedule, fly to Kisoro , where your Wild Compass Africa guide will meet you and continue by road to your lodge.

The journey into the Bwindi region takes you through some of southwestern Uganda's most distinctive landscapes, with rolling green hills, cultivated slopes and, around Kisoro, views towards the volcanic mountains of the Virunga range.

Arrive at your lodge, check in and take time to relax before your gorilla trek the following morning. If time allows, you may enjoy a short nature walk or a community experience near the lodge, depending on your location and interests.

The evening is best kept relaxed, with an early dinner and preparation for the following day's trek.

DAY 2

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Continue to Kigali

After an early breakfast, head to the gorilla trekking briefing point for registration and a pre-trek briefing. You will then enter Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with your ranger and trekking team in search of one of the park's habituated gorilla families.

The trek can take several hours depending on the location and movements of the gorillas. Once you find the family, you will spend the designated viewing time observing them in their natural forest environment — from powerful silverbacks and mothers caring for their young to curious juveniles moving through the vegetation.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch, a shower and some time to refresh before continuing towards the Rwanda border.

Depending on the route and border crossing used, travel into Rwanda through Cyanika or Gatuna and continue to Kigali. Your safari ends with a drop-off at your Kigali hotel or, if your flight schedule permits, at Kigali International Airport.
