Park Overview

Kilifi County is a captivating coastal destination in Kenya, renowned for its serene beaches, rich cultural heritage, and historical landmarks. Nestled between Mombasa and Malindi along the Indian Ocean, Kilifi offers a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. The region is marked by scenic chalk cliffs—unique geological features not found anywhere else in Kenya—and a tranquil environment that contrasts beautifully with the bustling towns nearby.

Kilifi’s Swahili roots are evident in its architecture, cuisine, and daily life, offering visitors a deeply enriching cultural experience. The county is dotted with ancient ruins, notably the 14th to 17th-century Mnarani Ruins, which feature the remains of old mosques and tombs. These historical sites provide a glimpse into the coastal Islamic civilization that once thrived here.

Bofa Beach, with its powdery white sand and swaying palm trees, is a major attraction. Its unspoiled beauty and quiet ambiance make it one of Kenya’s finest beaches. The local communities are warm and welcoming, providing a hospitable environment for travelers seeking both leisure and meaningful cultural connections.

In addition to its natural beauty, Kilifi boasts a broad spectrum of accommodation options—from eco-lodges and hostels like Distant Relatives Eco-Lodge & Backpackers to upscale beach resorts such as Kilifi Bay Beach Resort—making it an accessible destination for all kinds of travelers.
