Day 1 – Arrival in Juba & Journey to Mundari Territory

Upon arrival at Juba International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Royal Palace Hotel for refreshment, particularly if you arrive in the early morning. Soon after, begin your journey by road toward the Mundari homeland, a drive of approximately 4–5 hours through rural South Sudan. On arrival, set up camp near the village and spend the afternoon settling in. As evening approaches, you will meet members of the Mundari community, learning about their daily activities, traditions, and the central role of cattle in their lives. The first night is spent under canvas near the village, where the rhythm of local life surrounds you.

Day 2 – Life in the Mundari Cattle Camps

The day is dedicated to exploring the village and the famed cattle camps of the Mundari people. You will witness the bond between herders and their livestock, observing how cattle are milked, tended, and protected. Your guide will interpret customs ranging from scarification practices to the symbolic meaning of body adornments. If arrangements are made, you may enjoy a traditional Mundari dance performance, which blends drumming, chanting, and graceful movements. Evenings in the camp are particularly captivating, as smoke from dung fires drifts across the herds, giving the scene a mystical glow. Tonight, you camp once more in the Mundari homeland, deepening your understanding of their way of life.

Day 3 – Journey to the Dinka Heartland & Nile River Adventure

After breakfast, depart for the Dinka region, a drive of approximately 2–3 hours. On arrival, you will be welcomed into a Dinka village where elders and families share stories of their culture and resilience. Take time to walk through the settlement, observing traditional homesteads and gaining perspective on how the Nile sustains both people and livestock. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on the River Nile (subject to water levels), offering views of unspoiled riverbanks and a chance to appreciate the grandeur of this legendary river. Your campsite for the night will be set near the Nile or within a nearby village, offering a serene conclusion to the day.

Day 4 – Return to Juba & Departure

After breakfast, embark on the return journey to Juba, a drive of approximately 4–5 hours. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to visit Juba’s vibrant local markets or explore the National Museum, which showcases South Sudan’s heritage. In the afternoon or evening, you will be transferred to Juba International Airport for your onward flight, carrying with you memories of one of Africa’s most unique cultural experiences.

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

Your safari adventure begins with a pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport by one of our professional guides. Enjoy a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and the stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
After lunch, set out on an afternoon game drive, capturing wildlife against the golden African sunset.

Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli

After breakfast, collect your picnic lunch boxes and spend the day exploring Amboseli’s diverse landscapes on morning, afternoon, and evening game drives.
Photographers will be thrilled by the sight of elephants and other wildlife — including buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and possibly black rhino — with the towering Kilimanjaro as a backdrop.

Day 3: Amboseli – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch.
Lake Nakuru is renowned for its population of endangered black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffe, and over 50 other species, including lions, waterbucks, and buffalo.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, travel to the world-famous Masai Mara, known for its endless plains, dramatic landscapes, and richwildlife. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive until sunset.

Day 5: Full Day in Masai Mara

Start early to maximise your wildlife encounters. The Mara is home to the Big Five and the spectacular Great Migration(seasonal).
Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives, capturing memorable wildlife moments and dramatic savannah scenery.

Day 6: Masai Mara – Nairobi

After breakfast, enjoy your final game views as you depart for Nairobi. Depending on your flight schedule, you may opt for a leisurely lunch in the city before being transferred to the airport or your hotel.

Day 1 – Arrival and Introduction to Juba

Upon arrival in Juba, South Sudan’s capital, you are welcomed by your professional guide. After settling in, you set out to explore this bustling city, where modern commerce meets traditional culture. Visit local markets alive with colorful fabrics, handmade crafts, and the rhythmic energy of daily trade. Later, prepare for your journey into South Sudan’s rural heartlands, heading towards the tribal territories where authentic cultural immersion begins.

Day 2 – The Toposa People of the East

Spend your first full day immersed with the Toposa tribe. Known for their striking traditional attire and intricate scarification patterns, the Toposa proudly maintain their customs. You will witness their communal lifestyle, where cattle herding and agriculture sustain both family and culture. As you share stories with elders and observe rituals, you gain insight into the tribe’s resilience and their ties to history.

Day 3 – Among the Boya in the Kimatong Hills

Journey into the scenic Kimatong Hills, the homeland of the Boya. These resourceful farmers cultivate crops and raise livestock in a rugged tropical environment. You’ll walk through their villages, dine with community members, and observe their agricultural practices. This intimate encounter reveals how the Boya adapt to the challenges of their environment while maintaining strong communal bonds.

Day 4 – The World of the Dinka

Today, you enter the land of the Dinka, one of the largest and most influential tribes in East Africa. Cattle are central to Dinka society, representing wealth, status, and spiritual connection. You’ll witness herding traditions, experience their warm hospitality, and learn how cattle form the cornerstone of family life, marriage negotiations, and community identity.

Day 5 – Crossing the Nile to Mingkaman

Your journey continues with a morning among the Dinka people before boarding a boat across the White Nile. This crossing offers scenic views and a moment to reflect on the significance of the river in sustaining life. Arriving in Mingkaman town, you explore its busy markets and streets, where rural and urban cultures intertwine. Here, you engage with local traders and experience South Sudan’s everyday rhythm.

Day 6 – The Mundari Cattle Camps

Few experiences rival a visit to the Mundari cattle camps. Home to thousands of cattle, these camps are a living tapestry of fire smoke, animal calls, and human interaction. The Mundari are celebrated for their devotion to cattle, which shapes every aspect of their lives. You’ll learn about their herding techniques, cultural rituals, and the social structures that govern camp life.

Day 7 – Living with the Mundari

Spend a full day with the Mundari, not as an observer but as a participant. Assist with cattle herding, try your hand at milking, and share meals with your hosts. Through stories, music, and communal activities, you come to appreciate the deep, almost spiritual relationship the Mundari have with their herds. This is a rare chance to live, even briefly, within one of Africa’s most authentic cultural landscapes.

Day 8 – Return to Juba and Departure

After a week of immersive encounters, you return to Juba. Depending on your flight schedule, you may revisit the city’s cultural sites and markets before transferring to the airport. Depart South Sudan with memories of a journey that has taken you beyond the surface, into the living heritage of some of Africa’s most remarkable tribes.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Transfer to Lake Manyara

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or in Arusha city, where your Wild Compass Africa guide will welcome you. Depending on arrival time, transfer to Lake Manyara, a scenic drive that offers spontaneous photo opportunities of rolling highlands, Maasai villages, and acacia-dotted landscapes.

Upon arrival at your lodge or tented camp, enjoy a pre-trip briefing with your guide, including photography tips, wildlife behavior insights, and optimal lighting techniques. Capture the lake’s birdlife, flamingo flocks, and golden-hour reflections before settling in for your first night on this immersive photography adventure.

Days 2–3: Lake Manyara → Serengeti National Park (Central Seronera Section)

Wake early to photograph sunrise over Lake Manyara’s lush landscapes before departing for Serengeti National Park, entering the Central Seronera region, famed for its high predator density and abundant plains game.

Enjoy afternoon and evening game drives, capturing dramatic wildlife interactions against the Serengeti’s iconic sunsets. Your guide, with years of experience in wildlife photography, will help position you for optimal angles, using natural light and landscape features to enhance your shots. Opportunities for nocturnal photography may arise if conditions allow.

Overnight at a lodge or tented camp in Central Serengeti, keeping you close to the action.

Days 4–5: Ndutu – The Wildebeest Calving Grounds

Transfer to Ndutu, the epicenter of the wildebeest calving season. From January to March, thousands of wildebeest give birth across the short grass plains, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. This makes Ndutu a prime location for action-packed wildlife photography, from newborn calves to predator-prey interactions.

Spend your days on full-day game drives with packed lunches, using specially equipped 4×4 vehicles for off-road access to the most photogenic locations. Early mornings and late afternoons produce golden light, perfect for capturing the rich colors of the African landscape.

Overnight at the Ndutu tented camp, placing you in the heart of the action for sunrise and sunset photography.

Day 6: Ndutu → Ngorongoro Crater

After a morning game drive in Ndutu, transfer to Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater for a half-day photography safari, seeking black rhinos, elephants, zebras, and flamingos in the soda ash lake areas. Capture the crater’s dramatic scenery and wildlife in their natural habitat.

Overnight at a lodge on the crater rim or nearby Karatu, offering panoramic views and comfortable accommodations.

Day 7: Maasai Cultural Experience & Departure

After breakfast, visit a local Maasai boma in Mto wa Mbu to photograph traditional homesteads, colorful attire, daily life, and cultural dances. Capture authentic moments that showcase the Maasai heritage while engaging respectfully with the community.
